Sarıyıldız: Is a Kurdish refugee’s life only worth 4 lira?

A Turkish court has decided to drop charges against a Turkish soldier who shot dead 28-year-old Saada Darwich from Rojava on the border. HDP Şırnak MP Faysal Sarıyıldız has raised the issue in the Turkish Parliament, asking Interior Minister Sebahattin Öztürk why the soldiers responsible were not even charged with causing death through negligence.

IHD: Children in prison continue suffering ill treatment, abuse and rape

The Human Rights Association (IHD) in Turkey has issued a statement highlighting the ill treatment, sexual abuse and rape of children in prisons in Van, Şakran, Pozantı and Sincan and called for children’s rights to be protected.

AI: Death row juvenile offender at risk of secret execution

Iranian officials’ refusal to provide the family of Saman Naseem, a death row juvenile offender who was due to be executed yesterday morning, with information about his fate and whereabouts has sparked fears that he is at risk of being tortured or secretly executed, said Amnesty International.

The head of the Human Rights Association of Turkey (IHD) Öztürk Türkdoğan, said the Turkish government should take steps appropriate to the joint declaration made with the HDP. The 10 articles are headings and principles. Negotiations are needed to elaborate these. Mr Öcalan should be able to speak to his organisation.

The Human Rights Association (IHD) Diyarbakır branch has released its report on violations of rights in prisons in eastern and southeastern Turkey. According to the report, a total of 3263 violations were registered in prisons in the Kurdish region last year.

Anne Waldman is one of the poets of what was called “Beat Generation”. Friend, in particular, of Allen Ginsberg and Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Waldman was the youngest of the group. Born in Millville, New Jersey, she moves in MacDougal Street in New York’s Greenwich Village, when she was very small.

CHP: 1677 people died in prison in the last ten years

Republican’s People Party CHP deputy, Gürkut Acar had asked the minister of justice a specific question on the issue. Minister Sadullah Ergin answered that in the last 10 years the number of prisoners who died in prison was 1677.

The Kurdish Center for Human Rights was established in Geneva in 2000, according to the Suisse civil law. In response to the genocide, war crimes and human rights violations occurring across the Kurdish regions of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria.

The KCHR, as a non-profit organization of social utility, was born from the need to  inform the European and Swiss people and the OHCHR on human rights violations against the Kurds via seminars and other dialogue platforms and to attend their meetings; to establish a dialogue with NGO’s, civil movements, associations, government and civil institutions..
