Afshin Sheikholeslami’s Detention Extended without Judicial Charges

35 days after Kurdish environmental rights activists Afshin Sheikholeslami Vatani‘s arrest, he has not been officially charged by the Iranian judiciary. The second branch of the Sanandaj’s prosecutor office has extended Mr. Sheikholeslami’s detention.

Manbij massacre classified as a war crime, perpetrators must be held accountable

The Human Rights Organization explained that the massacre committed by Turkey in Manbij city is classified as a war crime, and the perpetrators must be tried within an international court, and indicated that it is coordinating with a committee of lawyers to file cases of people who have been subjected to violations to European courts.

Femicide in Turkey: 36 women murdered in July

In July, at least 36 women were victims of femicide in Turkey. 92 percent of the women were murdered by violent husbands, partners, fathers or sons. Eleven more women were found dead in suspicious circumstances.

The authorities in Kurdistan Regional Government -Iraq, continue to arrest activists and media professionals without allowing their lawyers to meet with them, while the representative of the Metro Center for Defending the Rights of Journalists in Duhok revealed that Başûr Kurdistan suffers from a greatly reduced level of freedoms, as a post on social media leads its publisher to imprisonment.

Lawyers take the contact ban with Imralı to the ECtHR

The Turkish Constitutional Court has rejected the lifting of the ban on contact with Abdullah Öcalan and his three fellow prisoners on Imrali. The defence team has now taken the case to the European Court of Human Rights.

The Kurdish Center for Human Rights was established in Geneva in 2000, according to the Suisse civil law. In response to the genocide, war crimes and human rights violations occurring across the Kurdish regions of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria.

The KCHR, as a non-profit organization of social utility, was born from the need to  inform the European and Swiss people and the OHCHR on human rights violations against the Kurds via seminars and other dialogue platforms and to attend their meetings; to establish a dialogue with NGO’s, civil movements, associations, government and civil institutions..
