Spokeswoman of the HDP’s Women’s Council, Ayşe Acar Başaran spoke at a press conference in Batman about the impact of the corona crisis on women. European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment CPT statetement:
The Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) and MED Federation of Solidarity Associations with Families of Prisoners (MED-TUHAD FED) visited 12 prisons in the cities of Nortth Kurdistan amid the rapid spread of the coronavirus in Turkey and compiled a report to expose the situation and denounced that prisoners are not given masks and disinfectants.

Human Rights Watch warned against the Turkish government’s selectivity in dealing with the possible release of some prisoners, said that there should be no discrimination on the basis of political opinion, and demanded that the amnesty include all prisoners who did not commit violence.
