Urgent Appeal: Imminent Humanitarian Crisis in the Maxmur Refugee Camp

The Maxmur Refugee Camp, home to over 13,000 Kurdish refugees, has endured many hardships, including military assaults. Turkish military airstrikes on the camp on 6 December 2017 and 13 December 2018 killed 8 camp residents and injured others, and a new wave of attacks and pressure on the Maxmur Camp began on 19 July.

3 August: Call for an International Day of Action against Feminicide

Let’s make August 3rd the International Day of Struggleagainst Feminicide through our joint organization!

On August 3rd 2019 is the fifth anniversary of the genocidal attack by the so-called Islamic State(IS) on Êzidi (Yazidi) Kurds in the Northern Iraqi city of Sinjar. Starting on August 3, 2014 the attacksand massacres caused a humanitarian catastrophe but importantly had the genocidal objective oferadicating the whole Êzidi community. Women were systematically targeted within this genocide andtherefore it also constitutes a feminicide.

The Kurdish Center for Human Rights was established in Geneva in 2000, according to the Suisse civil law. In response to the genocide, war crimes and human rights violations occurring across the Kurdish regions of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria.

The KCHR, as a non-profit organization of social utility, was born from the need to  inform the European and Swiss people and the OHCHR on human rights violations against the Kurds via seminars and other dialogue platforms and to attend their meetings; to establish a dialogue with NGO’s, civil movements, associations, government and civil institutions..
