While the court cases of genocides, slaughters and human rights abuses went on for more than 15 years without any results, people charged with “having connections with a terrorist organization” are detained and sent to prison within the same day.
On Tuesday (22 November), Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the conditions of shortened military service through payment. Males 30 years of age or older will soon be entitled to apply for paid military service.

According to official numbers of the General Police Directorate (EGM), 78,488 incidents of domestic violence were registered in the 19 months between February 2010 and August 2011.
According to the report of Human Rights Association (IHD) Central Office Prisons Commission, 267 political prisoners need to be treated outside for being in poor health. Among these unreleased prisoners 36 have a cancer, 17 a heart disease and six have a shrapnel fragments in their bodies.

The subject of sexual violence perpetrated by the state is a taboo which cannot be spoken about within the Kurdish issue. Particularly in the years between 1997 and 2000, for women living in Kurdish areas and women who were detained for political reasons, sexual violence was real.
World’s women lack control over resources, access to services, a voice in decision-making and protection from violence. That’s the finding of a new report by UN Women. “Progress of the World’s Women: in pursuit of Justice” is the first major report of the group charged with working on gender equality and the empowerment of women.

Human Rights Association (IHD) criticized the programme of 61st Government for the absence of the “human rights” issue. Demanding an immediate revision of the programme, IHD said; “The new program was prepared hurriedly and the 61st Government has apparently left all our hopes to the new constitution.”
