Pressures and grave violations against media professionals

The authorities in Kurdistan Regional Government -Iraq, continue to arrest activists and media professionals without allowing their lawyers to meet with them, while the representative of the Metro Center for Defending the Rights of Journalists in Duhok revealed that Başûr Kurdistan suffers from a greatly reduced level of freedoms, as a post on social media leads its publisher to imprisonment.

Dai primi minuti della mattina del 15 giugno, 60 aerei da guerra dello stato turco hanno bombardato 81 località, comprese le aree civili, a Makhmour, Sinjar, Qandil, Zap e Xakurk. I media turchi, come sempre, hanno cercato di legittimare il bombardamento affermando che era contro i “terroristi”.Nel Kurdistan settentrionale lo stato turco ha utilizzato tutti i meccanismi statali per impedire al popolo curdo di partecipare alla politica democratica.

Turkish jets bomb Shengal, Maxmur and Qandil

The Turkish state has launched a wave of air raids in southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq tonight. The strikes targeted several positions in the regions of Qandil, Maxmur and Shengal (Sinjar), including a refugee camp and hospital.

Maxmur Camp doctors struggle because of the embargo

The Iraqi state medical center in Maxmur is not enough to cope with all needs. In the event of serious health problems and even for routine checks for chronic illnesses, the population used to rely on hospitals in Hewlêr (Erbil), sixty kilometers away.

Elimination of Violence Against Women: Dozens of women murdered or committed suicide in South Kurdistan

According to South Kurdistan Organisation for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, at least 35 women were murdered in the first 9 months of 2019. 57 women committed suicide and 207 others immolated themselves. A balance sheet for the entire year is not available yet.

HRW: Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Refugees’ Movements Restricted

Security forces for Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) have arbitrarily imposed restrictions on movement for most residents of Makhmour refugee camp for Turkish Kurds since mid-July 2019, Human Rights Watch said today.

The Kurdish Center for Human Rights was established in Geneva in 2000, according to the Suisse civil law. In response to the genocide, war crimes and human rights violations occurring across the Kurdish regions of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria.

The KCHR, as a non-profit organization of social utility, was born from the need to  inform the European and Swiss people and the OHCHR on human rights violations against the Kurds via seminars and other dialogue platforms and to attend their meetings; to establish a dialogue with NGO’s, civil movements, associations, government and civil institutions..
