UN:Report of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic*, **

Posted on March 2, 2020March 2, 2020 By Centre Kurde Genève

Human Rights Council, Forty-third session 24 February–20 March 2020 / Agenda item 4, Human rights situations that require the Council’s attention

Summary
Since the start of the conflict in the Syrian Arab Republic, hostilities show little sign of abating in several parts of the country with a large number of State and non-State actors participating across different theatres of conflict. The absence of an effective peace process, coupled with the failure of conflicting parties to provide unfettered access to humanitarian actors and independent monitors, renders distant the prospect of improving the immediate protection environment for civilians.
