The Human Rights Association (IHD) announced its 2018 Violations of Rights Report. According to the Report, the right to life of 673 people, including 32 children, was violated. Thousands of cases of torture and ill-treatment occurred during the year, while more than a thousand people were arrested in the context of the so called political genocide.
Authoritarian Regime and the Order of Permanent State of Emergency 2018 has been a year during which elections to build an authoritarian regime based on a single-man rule were held and the permanent state of emergency was established in Turkey.

ÖHD co-chair lawyer Raziye Turgut pointed out that the prisoners who have been on hunger strike since 16 December have already overcome the critical stage.

IHD Diyarbakir Chapter Minors Commission pointed out that the Turkish state has violated international treaties and said: “There are at least 743 children with their mothers in prisons.”

Working people live more dangerously in Turkey than in other countries: At least 1923 people died at work in the previous year alone. In the past five years, dangerous jobs have cost more than 10,000 workers in Turkey – of which a quarter in the construction sector alone.

The IHD headquarters published a preliminary election report and pointed out that the AKP has resorted to many violations in Kurdistan and Turkey during the local elections.

The Constitutional Court convened to assess an appeal by Veysi Aktas, who is currently imprisoned in the Imrali island. The court ruled that “freedom of communication has been violated”.

According to the ISIG (Workers Health and Safety at Work) Council, in the first two months of 2019 some 284 workers have lost their life, an increase compared to the same period last year.
