KMMK: The international community’s action against Turkey is needed to prevent the genocide of Kurds and other minorities

Posted on October 18, 2019October 22, 2019 By Centre Kurde Genève

The Kurdistan Human Rights Association calls on the international community, the UN Security Council, the United States, France, Germany and other countries opposing the Turkish military attack on the confederation in western Kurdistan in northeastern Syria.

What is happening in western Kurdistan is a concrete case of genocide and war crimes, and it is imperative for the international community to take practical measures.
To date, more than 200,000 people have been displaced to their homes in western Kurdistan, hundreds have been killed, a massacre that is in no way consistent with the logic of humanity, peace and human rights.

The Turkish government has explicitly stated that its aim is to kill the Kurds and change the demographics of this part of Kurdistan. The Turkish government has shamelessly used Syrian refugees as a weapon to pressure Europe to keep them quiet.

The international community should decide at a UN Security Council meeting that UN security forces enter western Kurdistan in northeastern Syria and force Turkey back if the world will face another annihilation if the international community is inactive in Turkey’s actions.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Association strongly condemns the war crimes committed by the Turkish government and calls on the UN, the European Union, the US, France, Germany and its allies to fight ISIL, take immediate steps to stop the genocide of Kurds and other minorities and save the world from humanitarian disaster.
