10 years in prison for the Kurdish language teacher in Iran

Iranian authorities sentenced Zara Mohammadi to a 10-year prison sentence.

The human rights website in Rojhilat (east Kurdistan) stated that the so-called Revolutionary Court – Sunnah branch, sentenced to 10 years in prison on the Kurdish language school, Zara Mohammadi, for teaching her mother tongue and participating in organizations hostile to national security of Iran, according to the court.

Zara Mohammadi, 28, is a teacher of the Kurdish language and head of the Council of Culture gathered in Novin. Zara Mohammadi was arrested by the Iranian authorities on May 23, 2019.
