Taher Rafat, a civilian of Orumiyeh, who was arrested by security forces in April of last year, is still being held indecisively in dormitory 1-2 of Orumiyeh Central Prison.
The 40-year-old prisoner was interrogated for 2 months at the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Orumiyeh after being detained and was then transferred to the Orumiyeh Central Prison. In April of this year, he was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Orumieh to 15, 1 and 2 years in prison on charges of “membership in opposition groups abroad”, “propaganda against the state” and “insulting the leadership” respectively.
Najafzadeh, a judge at the Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court, mentioned that Taher Rafat’s publication of articles in support of the “blue girl” and his opposition to the compulsory hijab on social media indicated that this civilian was a member of opposition groups abroad.
Branch 6 of the Supreme Court has transferred the case of this detainee back to the Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh for a review due to the case being defective.
