According to South Kurdistan Organisation for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, at least 35 women were murdered in the first 9 months of 2019. 57 women committed suicide and 207 others immolated themselves. A balance sheet for the entire year is not available yet.
The Association for Assistance to Prisoners’ Families (TUAY-DER) held a press conference at the association building on rights violations in prisons.
Speaking on the 8th anniversary of the Roboski Massacre, HDP Ferhat Encu said: “From arrest to punishment, the State tried to make us give up the struggle [for justice] by constantly resorting to the judicial mechanism”.

After hearing the situation of Nun Verde Gökmen living alone in the Mor Dimet Church in the Village of Zaz (Izbırak as the changed Turkish name) in Tur Abdin (Midyat region), the Istanbul Branch of Human Rights Association, Committee Against Racism and Discrimination, visited the Nun several times and had telephone conversations and correspondence with Isa Acan, chairman of the Zaz Village Association in Hamburg, starting in July 2017.
It has been disclosed that the prison administration of Tarsus threatened prisoners with threats such as “You don’t deserve to live, we can do anything to you”.
