Almost a million more people unemployed in one year

The unemployment rate in Turkey stood at 13% in June, the Turkish Statistical Institute said on Monday. The figure was 2.8 percentage point up from the same month last year.

Kurdish political prisoner dies in prison

Mustafa Akyol, former co-chair of Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) was jailed in Ağrı in 2011 and sentenced to 13 years and 6 months in prison for alleged “membership to an illegal organization”.

Turkish soldiers and mercenaries cut 300 olive trees in Afrin

Maxmur Refugee Camp under embargo for two months

On July 17, the South Kurdistan official of the Turkish secret service (MIT) was assassinated in a restaurant in the city of Hewler (Erbil). The security forces of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) then closed all ways in and out of the Maxmur Camp, which is now surrounded and under a strict embargo. While members of the democracy and freedom movement were arrested and tortured, the arrests were carried out by KDP security forces together with representatives of the Turkish intelligence service MIT.

The Kurdish Center for Human Rights was established in Geneva in 2000, according to the Suisse civil law. In response to the genocide, war crimes and human rights violations occurring across the Kurdish regions of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria.

The KCHR, as a non-profit organization of social utility, was born from the need to  inform the European and Swiss people and the OHCHR on human rights violations against the Kurds via seminars and other dialogue platforms and to attend their meetings; to establish a dialogue with NGO’s, civil movements, associations, government and civil institutions..
