The Swiss association joined the call for the release of political prisoners in Turkey.
The ‘We Will Stop Femicide Platform’ (KCDP) and the Women’s Assemblies issued their April 2020 Application Report. The report stated that the number of women who applied for support denouncing the violence they were exposed to has increased in April. Applications were made mostly from Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Mersin, Adana, Antalya and Kocaeli.

Nupelda Çelik from the Women’s Emancipation campaign talked about the 2-day curfew imposed by the government at weekends to counter the coronavirus pandemic and the “Stay at home” campaign launched for the same purpose on weekdays.

In the province Ağrı a woman has been murdered by her husband. The victim is G.L., a mother of three children, who lived in the village of Mendelix (Gözlüce) in the Hewaran (Hamur) district. The offender L.L. fired three shots at her. The woman could not be rescued despite efforts by the ambulance service and emergency doctor.
Violence against women who are forced to stay at home due to their coronavirus continues to increase. In the last 20 days, 18 women were murdered by men in Turkey, 12 of them at home. State officials are calling on people to “stay at home” but have not taken any precaution against violence against women.
