Men killed at least 66 women in the first three months of 2020

In Turkey, nearly every day men kill, sexually harrass and rape women. bianet keeps account of the stream of male violence that is reported in news agencies, national and local media every day to lay bare the extent of violence against women.

Turkey: 29 women killed by men in March

Murders and violence against women did not stop in March. According to the Platform for Stopping Murders of Women (KCDP), 29 women were killed by men in March.

17-year-old Yazidi girl freed from ISIS captivity

According to the Yazidi House (Mala Êzîdiyan) of the Cizîrê region in northern Syria, a Yazidi girl has been freed from the captivity of the jihadist militia ISIS. 17-year-old Leyla Murad I. had been abducted from her residence in Southern Kurdistan/Northern Iraq to an ISIS household during the attack on Shengal in August 2014.

Başaran: Effects of the Corona19 crisis on women

Spokeswoman of the HDP’s Women’s Council, Ayşe Acar Başaran spoke at a press conference in Batman about the impact of the corona crisis on women. The MP pointed out that the world has been confronted with the spreading infectious disease Covid-19 since the end of 2019, but that in Turkey the issue has only been discussed since the beginning of March.

Violence against women in Turkey increased under domination of Erdogan’s party

Violence against women has increased dramatically under the ruling Justice and Development Party AKP in Turkey, as more than 15,557 women have been killed in the country since the party came to power in 2002.

Etki: Murders of women are political

Murders and violence against women originating from the policies of the AKP government in Northern Kurdistan and Turkey continue. Hundreds of women are murdered by men every year. According to the Platform to Stop Murders of Women, at least 474 women were killed in 2019 alone. In 2018 the women murdered had been 440 women and in 2016, 304.

Protest against racist gynecologist in Hakkari

In the state hospital of Hakkari in Northern Kurdistan a racism scandal is looming. Hundreds of Kurdish women are reporting racist treatment by a doctor and coercion to terminate their pregnancy.

The Kurdish Center for Human Rights was established in Geneva in 2000, according to the Suisse civil law. In response to the genocide, war crimes and human rights violations occurring across the Kurdish regions of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria.

The KCHR, as a non-profit organization of social utility, was born from the need to  inform the European and Swiss people and the OHCHR on human rights violations against the Kurds via seminars and other dialogue platforms and to attend their meetings; to establish a dialogue with NGO’s, civil movements, associations, government and civil institutions..
