Women protest against ‘child abuse amnesty’

In more than forty cities in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan, women have taken to the streets to protest against a draft law on sexual abuse of minors. The ruling party AKP wants to suspend the execution of the sentence of convicted offenders if they marry their victims and the age difference between them does not exceed ten years.

KCDP Platform: 474 women murdered in Turkey in 2019

The platform “We will stop the murder of women” (Kadın Cinayetlerini Durduracağız Platformu, KCDP) has presented an annual report on male violence against women and children in Turkey. The platform points to the rising number of feminicide and criticises that the authorities are not as committed as women to complying with laws and the Istanbul Convention.

Elimination of Violence Against Women: Dozens of women murdered or committed suicide in South Kurdistan

According to South Kurdistan Organisation for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, at least 35 women were murdered in the first 9 months of 2019. 57 women committed suicide and 207 others immolated themselves. A balance sheet for the entire year is not available yet.

Killings of Women Platform: Murders of women increased in 2019

According to figures from the Stop the Killings of Women Platform 430 women were killed in 2019 in Turkey so far. This number continues to increase in December. According to the same platform figures, the number of women who died in 2018 was 440. This number rises with each passing year in parallel with the increase in AKP anti-women policies.

Network Against Violence Report on patriarchal violence presented in Diyarbakir

The Kurdish Center for Human Rights was established in Geneva in 2000, according to the Suisse civil law. In response to the genocide, war crimes and human rights violations occurring across the Kurdish regions of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria.

The KCHR, as a non-profit organization of social utility, was born from the need to  inform the European and Swiss people and the OHCHR on human rights violations against the Kurds via seminars and other dialogue platforms and to attend their meetings; to establish a dialogue with NGO’s, civil movements, associations, government and civil institutions..
