The case about the massacres and violations in Cizre during the self-governance resistances was heard in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today. The appeals for Omer Elci and Orhan Tunc, who lost his life in the massacre, were chosen as pilot cases from among over 30 others.

The security camera recordings that showed detainees being tortured in Nusaybin have been erased. Prisoner Hamit Acun spoke in the hearing of the Nusaybin Case and said there was a dignified stance in the name of humanity in Nusaybin. Acun said, “I won’t give up my ideas” and spoke about how they were tortured.

Keskin: Lawyers will continue to fight

Lawyers from the Contemporary Lawyers Association (ÇHD) and Halkin Hukuk Bürosu (HHB) were arrested again within 24 hours after their release. The detention of lawyers from the hearings and the arrest of the lawyer Ömer Kavili for his alleged procedural deliberations by the court have drawn attention to the increasing pressure they are facing.

The Kurdish Center for Human Rights was established in Geneva in 2000, according to the Suisse civil law. In response to the genocide, war crimes and human rights violations occurring across the Kurdish regions of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria.

The KCHR, as a non-profit organization of social utility, was born from the need to  inform the European and Swiss people and the OHCHR on human rights violations against the Kurds via seminars and other dialogue platforms and to attend their meetings; to establish a dialogue with NGO’s, civil movements, associations, government and civil institutions..
