Ill prisoner passed away in Turkey prisons

Nebi Ilhan, who was in Siirt E Type Prison, died in the hospital where he was being treated. Nurcan Bakır, who was transferred to another prison after her participation in the hunger strike against the isolation of Öcalan, has ended her life.

Kurdish journalists sentences years in prisons

The Turkish regime’s repressive measures against the Kurdish press continue. İsmail Çoban, Azadiya Welat editor in chief sentenced to 7,5 years in prison. Kurdish journalist Osman Akın has been given to a suspended sentence in Turkey because of an article with the title “Repression against prisoners from Afrin”

Violations of rights in Van prisons increase

Violations of human rights in Turkish and Kurdish jails continue to increase. New violations of rights emerge almost on a daily basis in Van F Type, Van T Type and Van High Security prisons where political prisoners are held.

Women protest against ‘child abuse amnesty’

In more than forty cities in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan, women have taken to the streets to protest against a draft law on sexual abuse of minors. The ruling party AKP wants to suspend the execution of the sentence of convicted offenders if they marry their victims and the age difference between them does not exceed ten years.

KCDP Platform: 474 women murdered in Turkey in 2019

The platform “We will stop the murder of women” (Kadın Cinayetlerini Durduracağız Platformu, KCDP) has presented an annual report on male violence against women and children in Turkey. The platform points to the rising number of feminicide and criticises that the authorities are not as committed as women to complying with laws and the Istanbul Convention.

Encu: We won’t give up our struggle for justice

Keskin: Isolation at Imrali affects the entire society

The Kurdish Center for Human Rights was established in Geneva in 2000, according to the Suisse civil law. In response to the genocide, war crimes and human rights violations occurring across the Kurdish regions of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria.

The KCHR, as a non-profit organization of social utility, was born from the need to  inform the European and Swiss people and the OHCHR on human rights violations against the Kurds via seminars and other dialogue platforms and to attend their meetings; to establish a dialogue with NGO’s, civil movements, associations, government and civil institutions..
