Families launch petition demanding release of prisoners

Report confirms prisoners not given masks, gloves, disinfectant

The Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) and MED Federation of Solidarity Associations with Families of Prisoners (MED-TUHAD FED) visited 12 prisons in the cities of Nortth Kurdistan amid the rapid spread of the coronavirus in Turkey and compiled a report to expose the situation and denounced that prisoners are not given masks and disinfectants.

Human rights organizations demand release of prisoners

Human rights organisations in Turkey are calling for immediate protection measures for prisoners in view of the Corona pandemic. Turkish prisons are extremely overcrowded with 300,000 inmates.

33 bar associations call on government to release prisoners

There are over than 270,000 prisoners in 375 prisons in Turkish prison, according to figures released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat). Concern is growing because overcrowding may help the spread of coronavirus as it is of other diseases.

Iran release 85,000 including political prisoners

Evin House of Detention, is a prison in Iran, located in Evin, northwestern Tehran*

Iran has temporarily freed 85,000 inludes all polical prisoners to help combat the spread of coronavirus. Iran has one of the worst national outbreaks of coronavirus with 14,991 cases and 853 deaths, including 129 fatalities on Monday, the largest one-day rise in deaths.

Torture exposed in Manisa T Type Closed Prison

In Manisa T Type Closed Prison, prisoners who rejected the standing count in a 20-person ward last Thursday were tortured in a dark room. According to information given by the same prisoners, they were dragged to the ground by the guards. Prisoners with many torture marks on their bodies were also not treated.

The Kurdish Center for Human Rights was established in Geneva in 2000, according to the Suisse civil law. In response to the genocide, war crimes and human rights violations occurring across the Kurdish regions of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria.

The KCHR, as a non-profit organization of social utility, was born from the need to  inform the European and Swiss people and the OHCHR on human rights violations against the Kurds via seminars and other dialogue platforms and to attend their meetings; to establish a dialogue with NGO’s, civil movements, associations, government and civil institutions..
