Two journalists detained over report on coronavirus in Antalya

Two journalists were detained and their report on a coronavirus case in Antalya was removed.

Local news portal Haberimizvar.net executive editör İdris Özyol and editor-in-chief Ebru Küçükaydın were taken into custody following house raids in the Antalya province on Saturday.

The two journalists were reportedly questioned over a report they published on Coronavirus in the city and accused of “causing people to panic and publishing reports on coronavirus outside the knowledge of authorities”.

Both Özyol and Küçükaydın were released after giving their statements and the news article in question, titled ‘Coronavirus case in Demre’ was removed from the online platform.

The Kurdish Center for Human Rights was established in Geneva in 2000, according to the Suisse civil law. In response to the genocide, war crimes and human rights violations occurring across the Kurdish regions of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria.

The KCHR, as a non-profit organization of social utility, was born from the need to  inform the European and Swiss people and the OHCHR on human rights violations against the Kurds via seminars and other dialogue platforms and to attend their meetings; to establish a dialogue with NGO’s, civil movements, associations, government and civil institutions..
